Roaches Hall for 30 guests, is situated in the most outstanding of locations. Nestled under the famous rocks of The Roaches between Buxton and Leek, it is ideally situated for anyone wanting a ‘get away from it all’ self-catering location, yet in the heart of England. Roaches Hall is reached over a winding driveway through the fields and woods under the famous Hen Cloud rocks. To quote from the Sunday Times “The Roaches themselves were spectacular. It was as if we’d wandered onto a film set from an Arthurian epic. Every turn seemed to reveal a perfectly composed landscape of trees, crags and velvet-mossed rocks, with no trace of the modern world in sight.” The Daily Telegraph put The Roaches as number 5 in its top 10 walks in the UK!Roaches Hall was once the hunting abode of Sir Philip Brocklehurst. Sir Philip’s brother, Henry Courtney lived in the house and amassed a small zoo in the grounds including yaks, llamas, deer and wallabies. These later roamed freely over the Roaches before dying out in more recent years.
