About
Leek has held a market charter for 800 years, which has grown to include the Outdoor Market, Indoor Butter & Trestle Market, Saturday Antiques Market and the monthly Sunday Supplement.
Leek’s traditional Wednesday outdoor market is well worth a visit enjoying over forty stalls, selling a wide variety including fruit & veg stalls, homewares, gifts and clothing. The stalls trail through the town centre mingling with the town’s thriving high street complemented by the indoor Victorian Butter Market and Trestle Markets.
A delightful historic market town brimming with unusual architecture and fascinating history, Leek’s unspoilt town centre is a relaxing change from modern shopping centres with a refreshing mix of unique independent speciality shops and boutiques, cafés, traditional pubs and craft ale bars. Perfectly placed for a relaxed break away exploring the town centre or for the more adventurous and active types taking on the challenging terrain of the Peak District National Park and the great opportunities for all kinds of outdoor activities we’re sure you’ll find something to your liking.
In addition to the Wednesday market the indoor markets are also open on Friday and Saturday.
Saturday: The Victorian Butter Market is open with open top stalls in the adjoining Trestle Market. Leek’s vintage, collectors and craft market run by Archer Fairs is held outdoors on the Market Place.
On the 1st Sunday of the month is the hugely popular ‘Totally Locally’ Sunday Supplement Market, featuring over 80 local food and artisans stalls with many of Leek’s independent shops, cafés and pubs open for the day
