About
Trentham is one of the UK’s most unique visitor destinations, combining award-winning gardens, family attractions, shopping, events and experiences, all within a spectacular historic estate.
Trentham Gardens
At the heart of Trentham Gardens are the stunning Italian Gardens and Trentham Lake, set against the beautiful backdrop of the wider estate.
The Italian Gardens are currently undergoing an exciting replanting programme as part of The Next Chapter Project, building on Trentham’s rich heritage while creating a more sustainable future for the gardens. Working in collaboration with acclaimed designer Tom Stuart-Smith, alongside inspirational lakeside planting schemes developed by the late Professor Nigel Dunnett and the striking David Austin Rose Border, the gardens combine vibrant perennial planting with historic Italianate structure and design.
Beyond the formal gardens, lakeside walks wind through meadows, woodland and open water, offering the chance to spot local wildlife along the way. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful walk around the mile-long lake originally designed by Capability Brown, while discovering the enchanting fairy sculptures created by local artist Robin Wight of FantasyWire.
Families can enjoy a full day of adventure with the outdoor adventure playground, hide-and-speak maze, seasonal boat cruises, kingfisher and otter hide, junior go-kart track, tip-toe trail, the barefoot walk and more.
Younger visitors can also enjoy the Fairy Quest activity pack as they explore the gardens and lakeside, while adults can relax with refreshments at the Italian Garden Tearoom or the Lakeside Cafe overlooking the lake.
Throughout the year, Trentham hosts a varied programme of events and activities, including live music, outdoor theatre, Makers Markets, festive experiences and the weekly Trentham Gardens parkrun, making every visit different.
Trentham Shopping Village
Browse leading high street brands and independent retailers at Trentham Shopping Village, home to over 80 shops, cafés and restaurants within a unique free-to-access outdoor timber lodge-style shopping destination.
The Blue Diamond Trentham Garden Centre offers everything from plants and gardening inspiration to homewares, outdoor living and seasonal displays. Visitors can also relax and dine at Caffé Bello or the Six Arches Restaurant.
