An intro to Plant Identification & Uses

About

Staffordshire Moorlands Walking Festival 2025

Meet Suzanne Hill for a leisurely 2.5 miles walk, stopping along the way to take a look at some of the edible plants we walk past every day.  The walk will be a fairly gentle meander with lots of stops to look at what's growing, where it's growing, what to look for and what plants might be used for.

We'll be walking mostly on well established tracks and trails, though we may cross a slightly muddy field so please do wear appropriate footwear. There are a couple of uphill sections but nothing too strenuous.

Please note: Ilam Park does not encourage foraging, so we won't be picking plants on site but you'll be learning all about the do's and dont's of foraging and what to consider. Suzanne will also bring samples along for a nibble and to help with identification.
