About

Take a wander around the historic venue and a break from all the shopping and town centre mayhem.

Our Grade II listed venue is haven in the city centre- described as a 'hidden gem', with a walled courtyard and an on-site relaxing café, you wouldn't believe that you were in modern day Hanley.

Step inside our iconic bottle oven, filled with sparkle and 200 years of Dudson ceramics. There are a whole host of wonderful creations made on this site, some as early as 1809 and other more modern collections made at the former Tunstall factory, which closed in 2019.

The Dudson Museum and Café will be open from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm and there will be a few other things to enjoy.

During the day families can take children on a magical journey, The Clinkers Story Quest around the courtyard and a little treasure hunt inside the museum.

At 11:30, why not sit down and take the opportunity to connect with local heritage and the festive season, as you listen to the Arnold Bennett Society give Christmas readings from Bennetts Winter-themed works.

The discussion with be around two works: Vera's First Christmas Adventure & Vera's Second Christmas Adventure – both taken from the "Grim Smile of the Five Towns" (published in1907) and "Friendship and Happiness" (first published in USA as "The Feast of St. Friend: A Christmas Book" in 1911).

Before you leave, grab a festive bite and hot drink in the Dudson Café, and make sure you've got yourself a raffle ticket in time for the Christmas Raffle Prize Draw at 2pm.
The Dudson Shop will be open in foyer, where you can buy beautiful greeting cards and gifts, exquisite artwork by local artists and makers, and genuine Dudson pottery. You're sure to find a special gift for ceramics collectors and anyone with a passion for local heritage and supporting local creatives.
