Exhibition at the Brampton Museum. Arthur Berry: A Ragged Richness

About

This film showing by Ray Johnson of Staffordshire Film Archive accompanies the Art exhibition "Arthur Berry: A Ragged Richness" at the Brampton Museum, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.

What to expect

Arthur talks passionately about his life and work, reads out some of his poems and gives his views on the The Potteries and its people. Arthur is seen giving readings and interviews - and painting - in films from 1959 to 1994. Arthur's last appearance on screen shortly before his death is included - reading his famous Homage to the Oatcake. There are also films and sound recordings of Arthur talking about his plays and characters - with photos, programmes, Arthur's designs for stage sets and character paintings for the actors - written for the Victoria Theatre and New Victoria Theatre. This is a wonderful opportunity to see and hear Arthur himself - and to get insight into Arthur: the man.
