About
For something a little different on your next day or evening out in Staffordshire, climb aboard the Bombay Express – a unique dining experience that blends the bold flavours of Indian cuisine with the romance of heritage steam travel through the Churnet Valley.
Departing from Froghall Station, this popular service invites guests to enjoy a relaxed meal as a beautifully restored steam train glides through one of the county's most scenic stretches of countryside, with rivers, woodland and rolling hills passing by your window.
A Journey of Flavour
Once seated in the vintage dining carriages, guests are served a selection of traditional Indian starters, from crisp poppadoms with chutneys to chicken tikka and a trio of vegetarian favourites including onion bhajis, vegetable samosas and pakoras.
The main course offers a choice of classic dishes, freshly prepared and full of flavour. Options include spinach, chickpea and lentil dahl, chicken tikka masala, chicken jalfrezi and lamb rogan josh, all served with fragrant basmati rice and warm naan bread.
To finish, a light and sweet dessert of baklava with fresh fruit and berries provides the perfect end to the meal.
Relax and Enjoy the Ride
As you dine, the train gently winds its way through the Churnet Valley – often described as Staffordshire's "Little Switzerland" – making this as much a scenic journey as it is a culinary one. Both lunchtime and evening departures are available, making it ideal for a leisurely afternoon treat or a special evening out.
A selection of wines, prosecco and other drinks is available to purchase on board, allowing you to raise a glass as you enjoy the view.
