About
This is an unassuming, touching BAFTA winning 1998 road movie from Oscar-winning director Walter Salles (I’m Still Here, 2024). A jaded former school teacher and a young boy become unlikely travelling companions on a journey through Northern Brazil, when the boy is suddenly orphaned and must find his estranged father. With striking cinematography and a rich portrayal of Brazil’s diverse landscapes, Central Station avoids sentimentality to become a moving study of connection between two strangers improbably joined together.
