The Contra Guitar Duo was formed by Hamish and Emma-Shay with the idea that opposing yet complementary performers can create thrilling artistry and do!
The pair met at their University auditions in 2011 and have been making music together ever since. They have performed extensively in Europe and Australia and have released their debut EP on Move in May 2023.
Works include pieces by Rossini, Albeniz and Assad.
After an interval of roughly 20 minutes when refreshments will be served, the concert continues with recent Australian works and new arrangements for guitar.
Together, the two halves celebrate the guitar's remarkable versatility and chameleon-like ability to imitate distant and disparate sound worlds, channel diverse cultural influences and serve as a compelling medium for new music today!
