About

Go on a journey of discovery and learn how the Dudson Centre we know today began, and how the foresight of a group of ambitious individuals and the generosity of the Dudson family turned an unwanted factory, falling into disrepair, into a thriving community hub.

The Dudson factory on Hope Street was once a hive of activity, producing high-quality ceramics for the hospitality industry across the world, but as technology moved on production was moved to newer factories, leaving an empty almost derelict site. This new, temporary, exhibition tells the story of how a simple idea, to preserve the building and provide a unique community space, came to fruition through teamwork, the generosity of funders and benefactors, and sheer hard work, along the way uncovering the stories of the past.

Don't miss your chance to learn about the renovation, the archaeological dig that unearthed historic artefacts, and hear from the people involved.

While here, you can also take time out to see the historic bottle kiln, visit the Dudson collection, much of which was manufactured on the site, learn more about life in the working factory, and enjoy a break in the onsite café.

Do not miss this unique opportunity!
