About
A popular luxury playbarn in Brewood, Staffordshire, has announced its exciting line up of events taking place over the upcoming February half term.
Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn is encouraging families to get stuck into seasonal events and cultural celebrations, as it seeks to bring something different to its guests including Valentine's Day Afternoon Tea on Saturday 14th February, Pancakes and Play on Tuesday 17th February and a themed menu and crafts to mark the arrival of Chinese New Year from 17th – 27th February.
The family attraction is also bringing little ones closer to their favourite characters at no extra cost, with Chase from Paw Patrol visiting on the afternoon of Monday 16th February and Princess Elsa from Frozen heading to the playbarn on Saturday 21st February for a sing-along. Featuring all the special Frozen songs, including Let It Go and For the First Time in Forever, Princess Elsa will meet her biggest fans of all ages and pose for pictures.
Tessa Giffard, custodian of Chillington Hall Estate and co-owner of Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn with her husband Charlie, said: "With many seasonal days and different celebrations including Valentine's Day, Pancake Day and Chinese New Year falling with the half term school holidays, we thought this was the perfect opportunity to create a vibrant programme of events for our visiting families and groups to enjoy.
"Our chefs have been working particularly hard to curate delicious menus that celebrate all these occasions, whilst our playbarn team is looking forward to hosting some VIP guests that we're sure will delight little ones."
Known for its delicious and freshly made food, Hockerhill's menu for Valentine's Day Afternoon Tea has a selection of freshly made sandwiches including salmon, cream cheese and pickled cucumber; roasted chicken, siracha mayonnaise and lettuce; and roast beef with mustard mayonnaise. Homemade heart-shaped jam biscuits will also be served, as well as Red Velvet Cake, fresh fruit scones with jam and cream, chocolate coated strawberries, and unlimited tea, coffee or hot chocolate. The menu is adapted for children to include marshmallows and mini milkshakes.
During Pancakes and Play, visitors can build their own pancakes for £6 choosing from fruit toppings, a variety of sauces including Biscoff and Nutella and finishing touches like mini marshmallows, sprinkles and chocolate chips.
For Chinese New Year, in addition to its usual winter menu, Hockerhill's café will serve a selection Chinese-inspired meals including crispy duck pancakes with hoisin sauce, mini vegetable spring rolls and nut-free chicken satay skewers. Children can take part in crafts where they'll create lanterns and decorate a dragon puppet before they head out to play.
Exploration, embracing physical challenges and inspiring imaginations are at the heart of Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn. Admire the majestic indoor centrepiece in the form of a giant mock oak tree, which is modelled on the one that King Charles II hid in at Boscobel House as he fled the Battle of Worcester. Turrets, climbing frames, bridges, slides and look-out spots complete the main indoor structure, with the pedal go-karts offering an added adrenaline rush.
On the winding tarmac track, thrill seekers can channel their inner Formula 1 driver and set their best lap time. Also open during half term, the spacious outdoor area at Hockerhill includes zip lines, swings, slides and a sand pit as well as outdoor seating and picnic benches for those who don't mind the chillier weather.
"As the February weather can still be a little unpredictable, we have put a lot of thought into our extra indoor activities to bring joy to what can feel like a bleak month for some. This year, we're really encouraging families to soak up our wholesome and energetic atmosphere and enjoy delicious food and good company," added Sophie Galantini, general manager at Hockerhill.
To play at Hockerhill, tickets start from £7.50 for adults, £8.50 for children and £5 for toddlers. Those under one enter for free, with discounts available for Blue Light Card Holders, Military Forces Personnel, carers and guardians. To book, please visit: www.hockerhill.com
