Understanding Peak District Limekilns

About

Join us for a special event at a limekiln in the picturesque Peak District village of Butterton. We're passionate about preserving our industrial heritage, and this event is all about how one important limekiln will soon be restored.

It's a unique opportunity to learn about the history and significance of this structure and others like it. Our knowledgeable cultural heritage volunteers will be on hand to tell you all about it and share fascinating insights into the challenges faced in conserving these historical treasures.

Parking is in Butterton Village by the church or in the car park at the Village Hall / Community Centre. Walk from here down Pothooks Lane over the ford, until you see our volunteers who will be ready to welcome you!

The limekiln is located at NGR: SK 07548 56121.

You'll be surrounded by stunning natural beauty whilst learning about one fascinating aspect of our industrial past.

There are 6 times for you to choose from: Friday 8th September - 10:00am, 11:30am or 1:30pm; or Saturday 16th September - 10:00am, 11:30am or 1:30pm.
