Hiraeth

About

There will be a Grand Opening on Saturday 14th June 10-4 of our new exhibition, by Mark Lippett and Karen Wicks, entitled Hiraeth, featuring atmospheric works of abandoned and unused buildings and other beautiful quiet places. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a glass of wine with the artists.

Karen Wicks is a printmaker and ex-art teacher known for her work inspired by derelict buildings. Her prints, often using intaglio techniques and recycled materials, explore the beauty of decay and the stories hidden within abandoned structures. She is described as a printmaker who uses intaglio print techniques to capture the presence and intrigue of abandoned buildings, with her work exploring the fleeting beauty of forgotten places.

Mark is mostly known for his architectural work depicting abandoned buildings, which has been exhibited across the UK in a number of solo and group shows.

Mark’s atmospheric drawings and paintings depict quiet and unpopulated landscapes both urban and natural. His work explores the relationship between people and the environment and how nature takes over the spaces we leave behind.

Working mostly in drawing and painting, Mark’s work is detailed but also expressive. He uses a wide variety of mark making techniques in different mediums, favouring pencils and acrylic paint.

The Gallery will be open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm each week, and the first Sunday in each month, 11am to 4pm.
