About

The Story of Lichfield Cathedral Library and the Seymour Family

Saturday 22 April - Sunday 3 September | Open during visitor opening hours

Discover the secret that makes Lichfield Cathedral Library different from other cathedral libraries and its link with the famous Seymour family.

The Cathedral Library, as we know it today, started in 1674 with a gift of over 400 books from William Seymour's private collection. William's fascinating books reflect the wide-ranging interests of a wealthy intellectual in the 17th century and are very different from the books normally found in a cathedral library.
