About
Maille (also known as mail, or chainmail), is a type of flexible armour made from small interlocking metal rings to create a mesh. See live maille making demonstrations in the Great Hall at Tamworth Castle, Staffordshire.
Maille historically was used as armour as early as the 3rd century BC until the late middle ages. One of our volunteers, who you may have seen at one of our many re-enactment events, will be maille making and showing you how it's created.
