About
In this tender, sweeping story about roots and family, director Lee Isaac Chung tells a semi-autobigraphical tale of how a Korean-American family moves to a tiny Arkansas farm in the 1980s. Theirs is not an easy life. Monica and Jacob work in a poultry unit sexing chickens as well as trying to grow vegetables on their small farm. With a 7-year-old son with a heart condition and sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother newly arrived from Korea, the battle to create a new life tests their marriage. Winning dozens of awards, Minari is full of riches: funny, compellingly acted, beautifully filmed and with an evocative score.
