Telling Tales, the OUTSIDE Stories exchange project, travels to Kingsley Holt!
Storyteller Ian Douglas and shadow puppeteer Jo Douglas will research local myths and legends and arrive at the Kingsley Holt Centre with a selection of local tales to tell.
Over the course of three days, Ian and Jo will perform and facilitate workshops encouraging local people to tell their own tales about their community. Ian and Jo will then weave these narrative threads into a new tale to perform back to the village residents in a storytelling finale.
Itinerary:
Friday 20th September: (6pm)
Ian & Jo will deliver a 'Stories of the Staffordshire Moorlands' performance at 6pm. This will consist of 2 x 40 minute sessions.
Saturday 21st September:
Everyone is welcome to come along to the Kingsley Holt Centre and chat with Ian and Jo between 10am and 5pm. They want to hear your stories of the village, tales from your life, village history, absolutely everything no matter how big or small. Please don’t be shy, call in anytime and have a chat over a brew.
Ian and Jo will also be at the Blacksmiths pub in the evening.
Sunday 22nd September:
10am – 12 noon – Shadow puppet making. Come along to help make the shadow puppets for the afternoon performance.
Showtime 4pm - Performance of unique tale ‘Stories of Kingsley Holt’ back to the local community from The Magic Lantern. (Duration approx. 60 minutes)
Tickets: FREE/ No booking required.
This event will be free to attend with any donations being made shared with the Centre.
Refreshments:
Hot and cold drinks will be served.
Please feel free to bring your own drinks to evening performances.
Performances will take place outside if possible, so please dress accordingly. In case of inclement weather, the performances will take place inside. Please feel free to bring your own outdoor chairs.
A story exchange project travelling around 12 villages in the Staffordshire Moorlands over 12 months.
After the event an illustrator will listen to the stories and produce an interactive Story Map for the OUTSIDE website to be shared with others across the Moorlands.
