What does it take to get a creative cultural project off the ground?
How do you engage the people in the community that you want to speak to?
What if there's a whole new audience out there that you haven't spoken to yet?
And how do you keep that audience engaged when the project ends?
If any of these questions resonate with you, you should come along to the Conversation and Q+A session with members of the Punjab to the Potteries team. You will hear the process of creating a concept, research, engaging with the community and bringing a new play to completion. There will then be the chance to ask questions and give your ideas on where our project goes next.
Join members of the team behind Punjab to the Potteries - the joint project between Appetite and New Vic Theatre project to commission two new short plays based on the real stories of people migrating from South Asia to North Staffs - as they talk about how the project has evolved, where it should go next, and the interesting story of how it all began in the first place.
On the evening you will hear from four project members with unique roles, challenges and perspectives.
Gemma Thomas: Gemma is the director of Appetite who, in conjunction with their lead organisation, New Vic Theatre, commissioned the two new plays
Rasandeep Singh Devgon: as an Appetite Community Co-ordinator, Ras worked on spreading awareness throughout the local South Asian community
Valdev Bansal: the original concept of Punjab to the Potteries was Val's, thanks to some old family photos
Filiz Ozcan: Filiz cast and directed the play readings
There will also be an audience Q&A session where your input will be helpful to help us develop ideas for the future.
