LEEK TEXTILE WEEK

Sew Your Place is large-scale collaborative textile art piece. It is a 2 metre by 1 metre map of the town of Leek, both in its textile industry peak, and in the present day. We invite you to add your place; the spot most important to you, a street, school, field, pub or workplace. You could add a walking route, a garden, a place that no longer exists, a place that never existed.

Between Wednesday 25th and Saturday 28th of September, 10am-4pm you can drop in to the Foxlowe to add your part to the map (no charge) or join a sewing workshop with all materials and guidance provided

 

In this workshop : You will be guided in machine sewing a 20cm x 20cm map. You’ll use a variety of stitches to describe boundaries, routes, areas or streets which have meaning for you. You will be able to patch and couch, add elements of found textiles, buttons or applique, creating a fascinating piece of textile work which will form part of this important centre-piece of the first ever Leek Textiles Week.
