STAFFORDSHIRE MOORLANDS WALKING FESTIVAL 2026
Caverswall Historical Society is delighted to welcome Eli Lewis-Lycett to the 2026 Staffordshire Moorlands Walking Festival for a captivating talk exploring the rich alchemy of myth, folklore and history woven through the landscape of the Moorlands.
Eli is a folklorist, history writer and podcaster whose work delves into legends, traditions and hidden histories, revealing how stories cling to place and shape our understanding of the past. His talks bring together meticulous research and vivid storytelling, uncovering the extraordinary within the everyday.In October 2020, Eli founded The Local Mythstorian, an ongoing project dedicated to uncovering the remarkable local histories of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Through original research, the project traces the historical roots of regional folklore and lesser-known legends, and has grown to include essays, podcasts and live events.
In October 2025, Eli featured in an extensive interview for the BBC Upload Halloween Special, broadcast across multiple regions, where he was described as “one of the definitive voices on Cheshire and Staffordshire folklore.”
