About
Over the past few years, a million bulbs have been planted for Trentham's annual Spring Bulb Festival, creating an uplifting, immersive, and colourful experience for visitors as they walk through the gardens.
The Trentham gardening team have designed a contemporary mix of bulbs and displays, ensuring that as the months progress, Trentham Gardens will be highlighted with different colours and scents as various bulbs bloom. January brought delicate snowdrops, while February offered glimpses of crocuses and cyclamens emerging. March will be dominated by large daffodil displays, along with the start of the pot displays featuring irises and narcissus, ready for the bees to enjoy.
April is when the main bulb displays truly shine, with the Italian Gardens coming alive with fragrant tulips and buzzing with bees seeking an early source of spring nectar. Lining the banks of the Italian Gardens, the long borders – where 20,000 tulips were planted last autumn – burst into vibrant bloom.
The lakeside walk also comes alive with colour throughout spring, woven into the planting schemes and nestled between the trees. From delicate wood anemones and native bluebells to the striking hues of dazzling crown imperials, camassias, and alliums, the lakeside walk is a true feast for the senses in spring.
