About
The Staffordshire Hoard is the largest collection of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver metalwork found to date and has been described as “possibly the finest collection of early medieval artefacts ever discovered”. It was unearthed near Lichfield in 2009 and in 2010 Stephen Dean, the Staffordshire Archaeologist, came to talk to the Swythamley Historical Society about the Hoard and what they knew at the time.
They’ve now arranged for Stephen to return and give us an update about the Hoard and what they’ve found out since.
We’re very much looking forward to it – it was a fascinating talk then and we’re sure it will be again.
Do come and join us.
