A fascinating talk by railway historian and author Mike Fell OBE.

The talk covers the history of Newcastle station, which closed its doors to passengers on 2 March 1964 , the goods yard which paralleled Water Street and the Pool Dam branch which served the Brook Lane wharf, and the Gas Works in Goose Street. Also covered is the Liverpool Road Halt at Cross Heath and the Apedale branch railway which served the ironworks and collieries owned by the Midland Coal, Coke & Iron Company at Apedale and Holditch Colliery, Chesterton which ceased coal winding July 1989.
