If the weather is kind, we'll have views over Staffordshire and Cheshire, even the hills of Shropshire and Wales, from one of the few ethels outside of the Peak District.

Then on to an ancient monument, Bridestones, Neolithic cairn, for lunch before walking the county line and heading back down hill for an optional pint at The Knot Inn.

Moderate with footpaths, fields, trails and lanes, some steep uphill sections, uneven terrain and stiles. Short stretch on a main road, with verge.
